I first started training as a sprinter under Coach Fabian as part of my CCA in SJI 2017 in Secondary 1 and I began enjoying it very soon after. From there as training got more intense, Coach Fabian offered me and the rest of the extra training under FWCC. Under the guidance of Coach Fabian and the other coaches at FWCC, I achieved what I thought was initially possible in my second year of training, coming very far from having no prior experience in sports. With constant injuries, my training was disrupted and I was even given opportunities to coach over the years and now I coach for FWCC part-time. The coaches at FWCC are all people that I respect more than anything. They display both their professionalism and passion for the sport and their coaching and guidance, which have allowed me to improve beyond any expectations. Being part of FWCC has given me countless opportunities in more ways than I thought and it has helped me to grow as an athlete and in character as well.

I joined FWCC when I was 10. My siblings were both already in track and field, and I would feel left out whenever they started talking about events and competitions. It was like there was an invisible barrier between us. After being told I had the potential for track, along with not wanting to feel left out, I joined FWCC. I did not plan to start track competitively at first. It was my brother whom participated in competitions while my sister and I joined to stay fit.

My journey with FWCC began when I was in Secondary 1 as they were the coaches which were coaching the SJI sprints team at the time. I was new to Track and Field at the time but FWCC managed to guide me to learn and smoothly transition into the sport. The coaches were extremely supportive and would push me to my limits during the trainings. They made me want to strive for excellence and that drove me to join their training sessions outside of school, where I further developed my ability and made new friends. I have never looked back since and now 5 years in I work as a part-time coach for them while still training competitively with them.

For me, becoming an athlete was almost accidental.

My primary school didn’t have a school track team. Instead they opted to send decently athletic individuals to compete in National Schools’ Track and Field competitions without prior training. As chance would have it, my PE teacher volunteered me to be one of those unfortunate individuals. Having trained a grand total of 5 times by myself, a very prepared 11-year-old me turned up to the competition venue in nothing but my track shoes and PE attire. Surprisingly, I only just missed out on a spot in the finals by a fraction of a second. This shocked me, my parents, and my teacher who then promptly encouraged me to seek proper external training. Encouraged by this minor triumph with negligible preparation, my parents and I approached the group of athletes clad in royal blue, training tirelessly at CCAB, and thus began my journey with Coach Fabian.

Coach Fabian and the other coaches at Fabian Williams Coaching Concepts have guided me throughout the years. It is thanks to them that I was able to have improved so much, with their coaching and teachings. The coaches are very patient and caring, and never fail to make us laugh even in the midst of a hard workout. I appreciate all they have done to me and I’m glad and proud to be a student here!

I've had the great chance to train with FWCC for the greater part of my life now, and I am incredibly grateful to all the wonderful coaches and friends I've met along the way. Each of the coaches have been thoughtful and considerate of their runners not just as athletes, but as students and people. I am especially thankful for coach Fabian's attentive coaching style that has taught me to be a much more independent and reflective athlete, allowing me to grow as a runner, as well as a person.

I first got to know of FWCC as they took Crescent Girls’ School, my secondary school. It was only after NSG that I started to train with FWCC more as I was more committed to doing my best to achieving greater things. After 5 years knowing of FWCC, I can confidently say that I would not have lasted so long in track if it weren’t for all the coaches at FWCC who are so dedicated to supporting us in our track journey.

I started my running journey back in 2017 as somewhat of an “accident” as I was hoping to get into another CCA instead. Coupled with the fact that training was physically arduous, the lack of drive and motivation ultimately resulted in me finding means and ways to skip training. It wasn't until the start of secondary 2 where I started taking training more seriously, but then I met with my next hurdle - a coach that didn’t fully believe in my capabilities. That was until I was introduced to FWCC and ultimately Coach Fabian late 2019.

FWCC has helped me improve significantly in terms of running and fitness, but more importantly, the dedicated and experienced coaches have enabled me to mature as an individual and athlete. Throughout my years in FWCC, I have had the privilege of training under Coach Fabian, Coach Dillon, Coach Kabi and Coach Lionel. Each coach brought to the table unique coaching methods and experiences that benefitted me greatly. For the past year, I have been training under Coach Fabian. His constant encouragement and counsel have enabled me to become a more resilient and diligent athlete – qualities that have also aided me in my school and personal life.
