My journey with FWCC began when I was in Secondary 1 as they were the coaches which were coaching the SJI sprints team at the time. I was new to Track and Field at the time but FWCC managed to guide me to learn and smoothly transition into the sport. The coaches were extremely supportive and would push me to my limits during the trainings. They made me want to strive for excellence and that drove me to join their training sessions outside of school, where I further developed my ability and made new friends. I have never looked back since and now 5 years in I work as a part-time coach for them while still training competitively with them.

This journey was heavily impacted by Coach Fabian as he was a truly inspirational coach that drove me to want to keep doing the sport. During my journey in secondary school whenever I wanted to quit, his charismatic personality and fun trainings made me want to go back and keep trying. He would be serious yet tell jokes with us to keep trainings fun while also making sure we put our all into them to improve ourselves. After secondary school when I wanted to quit the sport for good he motivated me to come back and not waste my talents. He always pushes me to my limits and has not only been a coach to me in track but also in life.

FWCC has fostered my growth not only on the track but as a person too. The most important lesson they taught me is decision-making. They taught me that I as a person need to make my own decisions and work towards what I really want and not what people expect of me. They always focused on what I as a person and an athlete wanted. They focused not only on results but also on the development of my independence and resilience as a person. It was never about what would make them look good as coaches, instead, it was about how they could help me to become the best version of myself, both as a person and as an athlete. They also taught me resilience through training and this has translated into my everyday life too, on the things that matter to me I never give up easily as I have learnt from them that if it is worth it, put as much effort as possible into it and never give up.

FWCC has had a huge influence on my development as a person and as an athlete. They will forever be a huge part of my life and the time I spent with them has heavily impacted me as a person. Training with FWCC is hard and will always be, but the gain from it is definitely worth it.
